Thanks for reaching out — within the form, the default “State” field in Pardot automatically maps to the Lead “State/Province” field and the Contact “Mailing State/Province” field. We would recommend keeping this sync behavior and using the default state field in the form. This shouldn’t disrupt the data import to Salesforce, and we can enable field tracking to take note of any changes. If you would like to have the states loaded in as picklist options, you can perform the following steps:
  • Navigate to Pardot Settings (or “Admin” if you are in classic) > Object and Field Configuration > Prospect fields
  • Find the default “State” field near the bottom of the page and hit “edit default prospect field”
  • If you check the “use predefined values” box, you should see a dropdown appear below. You can then prefill with “US States” (screenshot attached)
  • Save the field
  • Within the form, navigate to the “fields” section
  • Add the “State” field and click “Load Default Data” — this will bring in all of the state picklist options automatically to the form
While we can also create a custom state field for you, this would not be mapped to the default fields and would need to be switched out long-term.
